Kathleen Aldrich ('08)

Winner in Social Sciences & History

Kathleen, a senior, excels academically while participating in many other school, community and global activities. She has been a Student Ambassador, promoting the school to the community. She worked as a Senior Retreat Leader helping shape the school's collective spiritual component. Kathleen is interested in a career in international politics. She attended the National Youth Leadership Conference and worked as an assistant intern at the Central Eurasian Leadership Academy in Istanbul, Turkey. She has been invited to attend the 2008 Global Young Leaders Summit in China. She has been a participant in the Teton Science School-High School Field Ecology Program. Kathleen has the unique ability to discern situations and develop solutions that are both practical and diplomatic. Her experiences with other cultures and people have made her very aware of the needs of the global community. Kathleen brings those experiences to class and offers an insight most students are unable to produce. Kathleen holds a 3.9 unweighted grade point average. She has been part of the Show Choir and theatrical productions. She is an active member of the National Honor Society and finds time to compete on the varsity tennis team. Away from school, she is an active member of the St. Andrew Episcopal Church Youth Group.

Devin Pinkston ('09)

Winner in Art

Devin, a junior, is an advanced art student, who usually works on more than one project at home and school. She always gives extra effort to make her work above the ordinary. She makes a difference in her school by creating cartoons that offer a bright, humorous outlook for students' lives. She has earned awards from the Tennessee High School Newspaper Association for editorial cartooning. She has been on the newspaper staff since her freshman year. Currently, Devin is enrolled in four honors courses in a rigorous college preparatory schedule. She has applied her art skills in helping create a homecoming logo. She holds a 3.7 grade point average and is a member of the National Honor Society. Devin finds time outside of academics to pursue the martial arts. She is a third degree black belt in Taekwondo. She volunteers in her church's Vacation Bible School program, leading the arts and crafts sessions. She has participated in the Tim Creager 5K charity run. She also volunteers at the Cordova branch of the Memphis Public Library.

Andrew Greenop ('08)

Winner in English & Literature

Andrew, a senior, is an accomplished student who has maintained an 'A' average throughout his high school career. He has exhibited a relentless commitment to academic excellence with a rigorous course schedule. Recently, he was named Valedictorian of the senior class. He currently is taking four Advanced Placement courses - English Literature and Composition, Calculus, European History and Statistics. He also is studying Honors Spanish IV and Honors Government/Economics. He also has been selected a National Merit Commended Student. His AP English teacher says that he writes analytical essays that evidence not only his breadth of knowledge but also his ability to dissect complex works of literature. Andrew consistently performs far beyond what is expected. His facility with verbalizing ideas distinguishes him from his peers. He is a member of the National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta (the math honor society), and the National Spanish Honor Society. He is a Duke Talent Search Scholar and a Scholar Athlete. He was named to Who's Who Among American High School Students. He participated in the Lead America Engineering Summer Program. Andrew served as co-chairman of the Tutoring Committee and served for two years as President of the Key Club. He has worked with the Catholic Heart Workshop, a mission organization that travels every summer to assist those in need. He serves on the youth advisory board at his church, helps with the church's Vacation Bible School and tutors others who are having academic difficulty. With the Key Club, he provides leadership in monthly service activities including Habitat for Humanity, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, canned food drives and clothing drives.
