Monday Mail for the Week of September 28:

    1. “ISLAND NIGHTS” is Saturday, October 24, 2009
      - SBA families, alumni, friends, grandparents and all are invited to this year’s Red, White & Blue Gala event.  Last year, we raised much needed funds to support the Annual Fund.  Our goal for this year’s event is $50,000.   We hope you’ll come enjoy an evening filled with dining, dancing and bidding at our live and silent auctions.
      - You can help us reach our goal by participating in one or more of the following ways:
      1. Purchase tickets to attend the event
      Invitations will be mailed next week.  Be sure to check your mailbox, complete and return the Reply Card to the SBA Office and your reservation for the evening is confirmed!
      2. Become a sponsor! 
      A sponsorship form is attached and also available on the Gala invitation and at www.sbaeagles.cmarket.com.  Our sponsorship level goals this year are as follows:

    - Tuition Credit Give-Away!
    - All sponsorship levels qualify for entry(ies) to the $1,000 tuition credit give-away and additional tickets will be sold for $10 each.
    - Shop our online auction!  Visit www.sbaeagles.cmarket.com.  Bidding begins September 21 and ends October 20.  Great items will be added weekly as they are donated to the event.  Shop ‘til you drop!
    - See you on the Island!

    - The college Admission Process: An information session for parents of Seniors
    - Presented By The SBA Guidance Department
    - If you are interested in attending let us know by calling 260-2840 or email Mrs. Cox coxm@sbaeagles.org.    All of the sessions will be held in the Distance Learning Center located across from the main office.   There is still one more date available (September 29 @ 6:30pm); The session will last about 45 minutes.
    - Note to Junior Parents:
    Ms. Brannon will be offering an informational session on the college process. We will discuss the transcript, GPA’s, ACT and SAT and we will touch briefly on the application process. The times and dates of these meetings are: October 7 at 6:30 and October 8 at 1:00 and 6:30. Please RSVP for the time that you prefer at brannonj@sbaeagles.org.
    - Community News:
    ----- 24-Hour Tour d’Esprit
    Holy Spirit Church and Haiti Medical Missions of Memphis will be hosting the 11th annual 24-hour Tour d’Esprit on October 2nd and 3rd, 3:00pm to 3:00pm.  The proceeds from this event cover the operating expenses at the Holy Spirit Clinic in Haiti.  Registration for the race is available in advance at www.active.com as well as on-site.  Visit our blog at www.hmmom.blogspot.com for additional event details or call Aaron and Christy Cassat at 755-8809;  You can also visit the Monday Mail portion of the SBA website to print a registration form.
    -----Coffee with Conversation:
    Share in a conversation providing information regarding all aspects of ADD / ADHD including medication, realistic expectations, and positive outcomes.
    -Discussion will be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic School (Marian Hall) on Tuesday September 29 from 6:30pm to 8:00pm

    ----- Responding Compassionately to Mental Illness: In Our Own Voice:
    A unique public education program developed by the National Alliance on Mental Illness: individual experiences of recovery and transformation.  An event during Mental Illness Awareness Week sponsored by the Ministry for Mental Illness of the Diocese of Memphis.  Tuesday, October 7, 2009 from 7:00 – 9:00pm.  St. Louis Church, 203 S. White Station Road.  Free of charge and open to the public.  For more information call the Diocesan Office of Community Health Ministries at 373-1224.
    -----16th Annual Oktoberfest Festival and 5-K Run:
    This event will feature live music, food, arts and crafts, games, 5k race, youth talent, teen tent, sports haus, and a silent auction.  Oktoberfest will take place at St. Francis of Assisi on Friday October 9th (5:00pm to 10:00pm) and Saturday October 10th (11:00am to 10:00pm).  Free Admission!!  For more information and full entertainment line-up visit:    http://sfaoktoberfest.org
