The boys’ cross country team had a solid finish to the season at the TSSAA State Championships in Nashville, TN this past weekend. The boys edged out MUS and CBHS with a 4th place finish overall as a team. The Eagles were led by junior Colin Pitawanakwat who finished 11th with a time of 17:04 followed by senior Daniel LaForce who finished 16th with a time of 17:44. Freshman Jeremy Stewart had an outstanding race as he was coming off an injury with a finish at 22nd with a time of 17:56. The boys’ varsity team will only be losing one varsity runner into next season and they will look to maintain their dominance in the region and improve their standing in the state.

The Eagles finished the regular season with an outstanding performance this weekend in the West TN Cross Country League Championships. In the last race of his senior season, Daniel LaForce led the boys’ team to a 1st place finish overall due to an individual finish at 1st with a time of 16:52. Junior Colin Pitawanakwat finished 2nd place with a time of 16:55; followed closely by freshman Jeremy Stewart who finished 4th place with a time of 17:16; and junior Rickey Morning who finished 5th place with a time of 17:18. Junior Jeffery Christiansen continued his streak of personal records finishing at 10th place with a time of 17:52. The JV team also finished well led by freshman J.D. Krueger who finished 2nd place overall in the JV race with a time of 18:02. The varsity team now looks forward to competing in the TSSAA State Championships in Nashville, TN on Saturday, November 5th.

This past weekend, the boys’ cross country team participated in the 23rd Annual Frank Horton Invitational hosted by CBHS finishing 3rd place overall as a team. Senior Daniel LaForce led the Eagles finishing 8th overall with a time of 17:05 followed closely by junior Rickey Morning who finished 14th with a time of 17:18. Several other members of the varsity team also achieved personal records in the race and look forward to competing next weekend in the Southeast XC Showdown in Hoover, AL on October 8th. The JV team also competed well in their respective race and were led by freshman John Prascak who finished 17th with a time of 19:17 followed by sophomore Chris Schuhlein who finished 24th with a time of 19:41. The JV will look to continue their streak of personal record achievements this Tuesday at Shelby Farms @ 5:00pm.

In their first league meet of the season, the JV boys’ team competed well this past Tuesday against several teams from the tri-state area. Sophomore Josh Cartwright finished in 5th place and led the boys with a time of 19:15, followed closely by freshman J.D. Krueger who finished with a time of 19:20. Freshman John Prascak and sophomore Chris Schuhlein also had commendable performances and rounded out the top group by also finishing the race in the 19th minute. The Eagles will be looking to maintain and improve upon their race times in the next league meet, which will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 27 at Shelby Farms.

The boys’ cross country team had a commendable finish this past weekend in the Jr. Ward Tennessee High School Classic in Nashville, TN. The Eagles finished 7th out of 33 teams led by junior Colin Pitawanakwat, who finished 17th out of 231 runners with a time of 17:17. The boys beat out local teams Memphis University School, Collierville, Bolton, and Germantown to finish first out of the teams from the western region of the state. Senior Daniel LaForce also finished well with a time of 17:36 in 30th place. Breakout performances for the team were represented by freshman Jeremy Stewart (who lowered his previous race time by more than 40 seconds) and junior Jeffery Christiansen (who consistently lowers his race times with each competition throughout the season thus far). The varsity team’s next race will be October 1st at the 23rd Annual Frank Horton Invitational hosted by CBHS. The JV team will compete this Tuesday, Sept. 20th at Shelby Farms for what will be their first league meet.

The Eagles competed at the Brooks Memphis Twilight Classic hosted by Christian Brothers University. Freshman J.D. Krueger, who finished 20th overall in the JV Boys’ race, led the JV team with a respectable time of 19:25. The Varsity team also finished decently at an overall place of 7th out of 45 teams led by junior Colin Pitawanakwat (with a time of 17:31) and Daniel LaForce (with a time of 17:34). The team also bested each of the teams within their respective region in the race. The Eagles now have a week without competition before they head to Nashville to compete in the JR Ward Tennessee High School Classic on September 17.

The Eagles competed well in their first race of the 2011-2012 cross country season this past weekend at the West Tennessee Cross Country League’s Jamboree. The top 3 runners medaled for finishing in the top 15 overall and the entire varsity team finished in under 19 minutes. Led by junior Colin Pitawanakwat with a time of 17:25 followed closely by senior Daniel LaForce at 17:29, the Eagles made a statement with their close-pack running style. Junior Rickey Morning also finished in the top 15 with a time of 17:51 and Jeffery Christiansen, a new-comer to the varsity team, dropped a minute off of his previous 5k time in the race. The boys’ team will now focus their attention to competing in the Brooks’ Memphis Twilight Invitational hosted by CBU at the Mike Rose Soccer Complex on the evening of Saturday, September 3.
