The Eagles football team came to a close with a 17-0 loss to Nashville Fr. Ryan. The Eagles end the year with a 6-4 record.

The Eagles were upended by the defense of CBHS in a 28-7 region loss. Star running back Jordan Wilkins was held to 119 yards for the night by the tough Brothers offensive line and SBA QB Nick Paige was intercepted four times on the night. The Eagles don’t get the post-season 1st round bye they had hoped for so they host Nashville Fr. Ryan next Friday. The Eagles finish the regular season with a 6-3, 1-2 record.

The Eagles chalked another one up in the win column by beating Carver (0-9) in a shutout, 42-0. Junior running back Jordan Wilkins scored on an 80-yard kickoff return, a 60-yard punt return, a 53-yard pass reception and 12-yard run – all in the first quarter to help the Eagles (6-2) hand the loss to Carver. The Eagles get ready for their last regular season game at region rival CBHS next Friday.

The Eagles were upended in region action when the MUS Owls came to Tully Field and shut out the Eagles 35-0. Despite recovering two Owl fumbles, the Eagles couldn’t penetrate to get within scoring distance. The formidable MUS offensive line opened up scoring opportunities for their QB and running backs and SBA’s line couldn’t get holes for SBA. Even at that, junior running back Jordan Wilkins racked up 98 yards in 22 carries. The Eagles host Carver next week followed by the last game on the regular schedule, a region game at CBHS.

The Eagles posted their first loss of the season (5-1) when the Arlington Tigers won a non-conference game, 20-0. The Eagles fought hard in a game that showed the toughness of the Tigers’ defense. Even with the loss, Jordan Wilkins chalked up 168 yards on 31 carries. The Eagles host MUS this Friday in a region match-up.

The Eagles didn’t take long to get on the board in their game with Jackson Central-Merry as junior running back Jordan Wilkins scored a 55-yd run with only 3 ½ minutes into the first quarter. The Eagles won their Homecoming game over Jackson Central-Merry, 42-21. The Eagles were led by Jordan Wilkins with three touchdowns, JC Odhams and Taylor Caldwell each with one TD and five extra point kicks from Trevor Cooke. Wilkins led with 320 yds on 16 carries for the night, and senior quarter back Nick Paige was 6-16 passes for a 101 yds. The Eagles have a week off before traveling to Arlington for a game on Oct. 7. They are undefeated for the year with a 5-0 record.

Congratulations to the Eagles Football Team who got a huge win over Briarcrest (27-26 in OT) to improve their record to 4-0, 1-0 in the region. Jordan Wilkins got the big yards (297 on 29 carries), but kicker Trevor Cooke, whose extra point gave the overtime victory to the Eagles, got the glory. It was a defensive game early on with no one scoring in the first and third quarters and both teams scoring only one TD each in the second. At halftime the score was 6-6 and both teams picked up a two touchdowns and two extra points each in the fourth. The Eagles got the toss and elected to defend the goal in overtime. Briarcrest scored, but missed their second extra point of the night. The Eagles’ turn on offense proved to be successful with Jordan Wilkins getting an 8-yard TD and Trevor Cooke stepping up to get the point after. The Eagles will continue to celebrate the win next week to prepare for their Homecoming game with Jackson Central Merry on Sept. 23.

The Eagles remain undefeated for the season with an offensive win over Bolton 35-8. Behind a balanced attack – 194 yards rushing and 181 passing – the Eagles improved to 3-0. Junior running back Jordan Wilkins led the ground attack with three TD runs and 129 yards rushing. Senior QB Nick Paige tossed two touchdowns and was 9-of-15 for the night. Sophomore running back JC Odhams took a 43-yard Paige pass to score and Trevor Cooke added the extra point is second of four for the night. The Eagles host Briarcrest next week for their first region match-up.

The Eagles’ varsity football team chalked their second win for the season with a 30-14 home game with Bartlett on Friday. Junior running back Jordan Wilkins ran for four touchdowns to lead the Eagles (2-0) over the Panthers in their first loss of the season. Wilkins rushed for 237 yards on 26 carries and also threw a 42-yard pass (handoff from QB Nick Paige) to senior Chris Hailey. Nick Paige was 9-of-15 for 145 passing yards and kicker Trevor Cook added three points after. The Eagles have an off-week and host Bolton on Sept. 9.

St. Benedict sophomore JC Oldhams opened up the scoring for the Eagles in their game at McNairy County on Friday with an 85-yard return in the opening kick-off to score for the Eagles, and Junior Jordan Wilkins rushed for 159 yards and three TD’s to lead the Eagles to a 43-13 rout of the McNairy Central Bobcats. Alex Ashlock caught a 17-yard scoring pass from Eagles’ quarterback Nick Paige and Sean Peck added a 5-yard scoring run in the fourth to cap off the Eagles’ scoring, and Trevor Cook added four points after. The Eagles host Bartlett, who had a big win over Central, this Friday.
