November 5, 2010

The SBA varsity football season came to an end in a first round game with BGA ending in a score of BGA 36-SBA 7. The Eagles only trailed 14-7 at the half thanks to a 69-yard TD run by sophomore Jordan Wilkins (his 23rd of the season), but BGA came out gunning for the Eagles in the second half and held them scoreless. On the bright side for the Eagles, the season ends with a finish of more games in the win column in the 6-5 season.


October 29, 2010

The Eagles varsity football team gave CBHS all they could ask for in region action at Tully Field. CBHS finally pulled out the win, 29-13, but the Eagles led at halftime 13-12. Senior Peter Amrein rushed 86 yards for a touchdown and Jordan Wilkins had another 100 plus yards ground game. The Eagles’ record stands at 6-4 and they travel to BGA for the first round of the State Tournament this Friday.

A valiant effort by both the offense and defense came up just short of a victory in a region game at Briarcrest. The Eagles led often in the game and were in the lead at half 14-12. But, Briarcrest added 14 more points in the second half to the Eagles nine to give them victory over SBA 26-23. Jordan Wilkins had another 100 yard game for the Eagles with 109 yards rushing on 26 carries. The Eagles host the last regular season game next Friday against CBHS and it will be Senior Night.


October 15, 2010

The Eagles opened region play at MUS and held their own in much of the first half. As described by the MUS Head Coach Bobby Alston, “The Wilkins brothers and Jordan Lee are as good as any players in town. They’re really good, and they’re dangerous.” But, MUS saw that and capitalized on SBA penalties to get the win 49-14. The highlights of the game were the 95-yard kick return by Jordan Wilkins early in the first quarter and a Nick Paige hand-off to Trey Wilkins, who then had a 25-yeard pass to Jordan Lee for a TD in the second quarter.

The Frosh/Soph team lost to MUS, however, they had an outstanding season with a 3-3 record! 


October 5, 2010

The SBA Frosh/Soph (JV) football team are victorious over FACS, 20 – 12. Volleyball – All three SBA teams were victorious over Hutchison, with each winning in their match play. The Freshmen and JV host Bolton tonight and the varsity hosts senior night on Thursday with Munford at 6:00. Records – Varsity 19-9, JV 28-2 and Freshmen 11-1.

The Eagles varsity football team kept the winning efforts going with a 52-30 win over Manassas. Sophomore running back Jordan Wilkins rushed for 334 yards in the win, a school record for single-game rushing yards last held by Nick Griffin with 256 yards. Jordan was helped by brother Trey who had three TD’s and Jordan Lee, who contributed one TD. Jake Tucci added six extra points and a 29-yard field goal to help the Eagles’ effort. The Eagles are now 6-1 on the season with an off week and then the last three games on the regular schedule with Region opponents.

The Freshman team played Lewisburg on Monday and won with a score of 28-26!!  The boys were “pumped” and ready to play!


September 24, 2010

The Eagles improved their record to 5-1 before heading into Homecoming Week with another shutout, this week, over Carver 50-0. SBA took basically the opening 12 minutes of regulation to put away Carver and registered its third consecutive win by scoring on each of its five first quarter possessions to build a commanding lead against the Cobras. Jordan Wilkins had scoring runs of 15, five and six yards and Trey Wilkins caught a pair of TD passes from Nick Paige, who had 118 yards passing for the night. Jordan Lee and JC Oldhams also added points for the Eagles, with Jake Tucci contributing three extra points and a field goal. Trevor Cooke added the last extra point for SBA in the third quarter.

The Varsity took care of business on Friday with a win over MAHS 49-26. Jordan Wilkins scored twice for the Eagles in seven-yards and one-yard runs. Wilkins was helped by brother Trey on a 25-yard pass score from QB Nick Paige, Jordan Lee on a 45-pass reception from Paige, Peter Amrein on a 43-yard pass from Paige and JC Oldhams on a 38-yard run. Senior kicker Jake Tucci added five extra points to the board. Paige completed 13-of-15 passes for 211 yards for the night. The Eagles (4-1) host Carver next Friday night.

The FR/JV team got the weekend off to a great start with their big win over Cordova 34 – 0.

SBA 48-BBHS 0. The Eagles opened up scoring early in their football game at Bishop Byrne with Jordan Wilkins’ pass reception from Nick Paige. Jordan Wilkins scored his ninth and 10th touchdowns of the season with this pass and a 21-yard run, also in the first quarter. Brother Trey Wilkins (a senior) had a 23-yard touchdown reception and a 53-yard interception return to score for the Eagles along with Jordan Lee’s two TDs. Jake Tucci offered six point afters for SBA. The Eagles are now 3-1 for the season and head into a three-game home series starting with MAHS this Friday.

SBA 28, Franklin Rd. Academy 29. The Eagles led 28-23 before Franklin Road Academy’s QB Matt Hissong hit receiver Dalton Pnchillia for a 47-yard pass in the final minutes of the game. Sophomore running back Jordan Wilkins led SBA with 184 yards rushing for four touchdowns. The Eagles are 2-1 for the season and travel to Bishop Byrne this Friday night.


August 27, 2010

After Fayette Academy opened the scoring in the first quarter of the Eagles football game, Trey and Jordan Wilkins took over the game to give the Eagles their second win of the season 40-10. Trey (WR) caught scoring passes of 24 and a record 99 yards from QB Nick Paige, before sophomore running back Jordan rushed for three touchdowns – all in the second half. Trey finished with 171 yards receiving and Jordan added 64 yards rushing. Jordan Lee also put points on the board with a 60 yard touchdown pass from Paige with just one second left in the second quarter. Kicker Jake Tucci added four extra points with kicks after touchdowns. This second win in two games is the first in 13 seasons for the Eagles.

SBA 21 Harding 0. The Eagles blanked the Lions with scores from the Wilkins brothers Jordan and Trey and Jordan Lee. Extra points were added by junior kicker Trevor Cooke.
