November 6, 2010

The Lady Eagles finished their season at the TSSAA State Championship meet. The girls had three finishers in the Top 20 including Madison Lessley (20:20) in 13th place, Shannon Rooker (20:49) in 17th, and Madison Smith (20:59) in 20th place. The top five scorers for SBA were rounded out with Jessa Sudduth taking 35th place and Adrienne Lewis in 55th place. The Lady Eagles placed 6th out of 11 teams and were only nine points away from 3rd place in this very close and competitive State meet.


October 16, 2010

The Lady Eagles rounded out their season on home turf also with a second place finish at the Shelby County Cross-Country League Championships. This meet consisted of all the teams from the area. The top five finishers for the Lady Eagles were Madison Lessley (4th place), Madison Smith (12th), Shannon Rooker (17th), Jessa Sudduth (24th), and Michelle Farler (39th). The girls will finish their season on Saturday, November 6 at Nashville’s Percy Warner Park in the State Championship meet.  Way to go LADY EAGLES!


October 14, 2010

The JV girls’ cross-country team had a great finish to their season at the JV County Championships. The girls were led with a 20th place finish by Emily Shelton (23:52). Sarah Jones came in 25th followed by Meghan Smith, Allie Heirigs, Jenny McKenzie, Anna Miller, Alicia Lawson, Anna McCrarey and Christine Cabrera.


October 8-9, 2010

The Varsity girls’ cross-country had a great performance at the Southeast XC Showdown in Hoover, AL. The girls placed 12th in the All-American Varsity race with teams from Tennessee, Alabama, Mississippi, and Florida. The girls were led by a 19th place finish from Madison Lessley followed by a 48th place finish by Shannon Rooker and a 49th place finish by Madison Smith.  

The JV team’s last race will be this week in the JV County Championships which is Thurs., Oct. 14 with the boys’ race starting at 4:45pm. The Varsity team will be competing in the main County Championships on Sat., Oct.16 at 9:45am. After this, the culmination of the season will be the state tournament to be held at the Steeplechase course in Nashville, TN on Sat., Nov. 6.

The Lady Eagles placed 11th this weekend at the Brooks Memphis Twilight Classic held at Mike Rose Soccer Complex. The field was comprised of 258 runners and 33 teams from all over the South. Madison Lessley placed 17th overall with a personal best time of 19:41. She was followed by Madison Smith (20:33) and Shannon Rooker (21:38) who also posted personal best times. The 11th place finish was rounded out by Jessa Sudduth (22:39), Michelle Farler (22:54), Holly Graham (23:42) and Adrienne Lewis (23:46). The JV Lady Eagles will be back in action Tuesday @ 5:30. Both the varsity boys and girls travel to Hoover, AL Oct. 9 for the Southeastern XC Showdown .


September 18-19, 2010

Congratulations to the Lady Eagles Cross-Country team on their performance this weekend at the Junior Ward Tennessee Classic. The girls competed in the gold race (Large Schools) and placed 15th out of 39 teams. The Lady Eagles were led by Sophomore Madison Lessley’s 20th place finish out of 280 runners. The JV Lady Eagles will compete in a League Meet on Tuesday @ 5:30 and the Varsity girls will be back in action this Saturday at the Brooks Memphis Twilight Classic @ 7pm—Mike Rose Soccer Complex.

Congratulations to the girls’ cross-country team who began their season on Saturday with an impressive start! The Lady Eagles were led by sophomores Madison Lessley, who finished 3rd overall in a field of close to 200 runners with a time of 20:22 and Madison Smith, who finished 10th overall with a time of 21:03 more than a minute faster than her time at this race last year. The varsity team was rounded out by Senior Shannon Rooker (22:44) and Freshmen Michelle Farler (23:33), Jessa Sudduth (23:44), Adrienne Lewis (25:16), and Emily Shelton (25:25). The JV team will run their next race on Tuesday, September 7th at 6:30pm and the Varsity team will travel to Nashville on Saturday, September 18th to compete in the Tennessee Classic.
