Home and School Association

The St. Benedict at Auburndale Home and School Association is a support organization. We provide service through volunteer efforts for many events that greatly enhance the positive atmosphere at SBA. Our primary goal is to foster family involvement and provide a sense of cooperation between home and school.

We do not fund raise, but do request a $40 per family donation to take care of all the special activities that the Home & School helps to support. These events include, but are not limited to, the faculty appreciation luncheon, faculty Christmas gifts, Honor Society and Junior Ring Ceremony receptions, parent meetings, used uniform sale, and special class activities such as tailgate nights and senior class events. A portion of your donation is also placed in each class treasury.

Become a Home and School Volunteer!

Below is a list of the events that Home and School sponsors and needs your help with.  A sign up genius link to volunteer is activated under most events, so it's easy to help out!

Monthly Teacher Treats

Home and School organizes volunteers to bring in food items once a month for the Teachers’ Dining hall and front office faculty lounge. Recruit and assist volunteers for set up and clean up on Teacher treat days. Please send in treats with your child if you can help. Volunteer opportunities are open for sign up by clicking here.

Teacher Appreciation Luncheon

Plan, organize and execute the luncheon to honor/thank our faculty and staff. This event typically takes place during Catholic Schools Week. Collect donations for gifts for the faculty and staff.  Volunteer opportunities are open for sign up by clicking here.

Used Uniform

Organize volunteers and used uniforms. This is typically a two day event, one day to collect and prepare uniforms for sale and one day to sell. The main event usually occurs the week after school ends and any leftover uniforms are sold at registration in the fall. Click here to volunteer.  

Honor Society Receptions

Organize and execute two receptions. One reception is after the NHS induction ceremony that usually takes place in November. The second reception is for all of the other honor societies and usually takes place in late winter/early spring.

Freshmen Class Parent Representatives

Represent the freshmen class at H&S and SBA functions, including H&S meetings and the freshmen parent meeting.  Serve as liaisons between, freshmen counselor and freshmen class parents, and for the Annual fund event. Click here to volunteer.   

Sophomore Class Parent Representatives

Represent Sophomore parents at H&S and SBA functions, including H&S meetings and sophomore parent night.  Serve as liaisons between, sophomore class parents and counselors, and for the Annual fund event. Click here to volunteer.   

Junior Class Parent Representatives

Represent junior class parents at H&S and SBA functions, including H&S meetings and junior class parent night. Serve as liaisons between, junior class parents and counselors, Annual fund event, and Project Graduation. Only one or two of the representatives needs to show up at each event. Senior Class Parent Representatives

Represent senior class parents at H&S and SBA functions, including H&S meetings and senior parent meeting. Serve as liaisons between, senior class and counselors, Annual fund event, and Project Graduation. Only one or two of the representatives needs to show up at each event. Click here to volunteer.

SBA Fashion Show Fundraiser

Organize event, including clothes vendor, catering and models.  Serve by decorating, gathering auction items, volunteering to work the night of event, organizing auction/drawings, etc.  This is the only fundraiser that supports the SBA Annual Fund.  It is usually held in February and is a ton of fun!  

Junior Ring Reception

Organize parent volunteers to send in cookies, setup, serve and cleanup for the reception that takes place after the junior ring mass and presentation ceremony. This event usually occurs in December. Father/Daughter Dance

Schedule and organize a dance for junior & senior class girls and their fathers or special guests. Work with parent volunteers to select venue, theme, date, and DJ. Mother/Daughter Tea

Organize and execute an afternoon tea for senior girls and their mothers or special guest. Work with parent volunteers to select date, venue, theme and event activities. This is usually a spring event.  To help with this event, click here to email event co-chairperson, Kelli Grissom.

Father/Son Outing

Schedule and organize outing for senior boys & their fathers or special guest. Work with parent volunteers to select activity, date and event specifics. This event usually takes place in the spring.  To help with this event, click here to email event co-chairperson, Jennifer Bougeois.

Mother/Son Dinner

Organize and execute a dinner for senior boys and their mothers or special guests. Work with parent volunteers to select a date, venue, menu, theme and other activities. This is usually a spring event.   To help with this event, click here to email event chairperson, Christine Giles. 

Spirit Shop

Parent volunteers assist with the sale of SBA items at school events including, registration, parent meetings, 8th grade visits, and sports events and on Thursdays during lunches. Project Graduation

A parent sponsored and run organization that provides a drug and alcohol free post graduation party for all graduating SBA seniors. This event is funded through student ticket purchases, Sponsorships, Donations and two Trivia Night fundraisers. First Friday Adoration

Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament is conducted on the First Friday of each month.  Eucharistic Adoration begins immediately following the 7:45am bell and concludes at 3:00pm dismissal.  Parent volunteers are needed to cover in half hour increments so that the Blessed Sacrament is not left unattended during the school day.  Click here to link to the volunteer page for First Friday Adoration.  Mother Theresa of Calcutta once said "What we need to convert America and save the world is to come before Jesus in the Blessed sacrament in Holy Hours of Prayer."  Please prayerfully consider volunteering for this special time with our Lord.
