National Honor Society

 

Los Jovenes de Santo Benedicto or the Spanish National Honor Society is an academic honor society which focuses on the promotion of culture, service and education.

Members active in the club receive recognition, a lapel pin, certificate, T-shirt and graduation drape.

Requirements for membership: 

Currently enrolled in Spanish 3 or 4 with a 3.5 GPA, an overall GPA of 3.0 in the year of application, 4 teacher recommendations that are reviewed and voted on by a teacher panel, and no N's or U's in conduct during the year of application.

Dues/Fees:   

National member dues are $10.00 a year, optional T-shirt - $14.00, pin - $12.00

 

Meetings:

Held during break, lunch or if necessary, after school in Sr. Savage's room.

 

Minimum Requirements to Stay a Member:

Maintain a 3.5 minimum GPA in Spanish, an overall GPA of 3.0, and an 'S' in conduct in ALL classes with continued study in Spanish 3 mandatory and Spanish 4 recommended.

Approximate time of commitment:

Meetings, a few times out to lunch, attendance at Spanish Mass and service projects.

Requirements for Office positions:

Anyone who is a member of SNHS and currently enrolled in Spanish 3 or 4 may run for office by signing up with the sponsor at the beginning or end of the year.
