Placement Exams

High school placement test

Students who are applying for entrance into Grade 9 are required to take the High School Placement Test.  The HSPT is approximately 3 hours and consists of 5 parts: Verbal Skills, Quantitative Skills, Reading, Mathematics and Language.

Pre-registration for the HSPT is included on the Application for Admission.  Testing fee is covered with the $75 application fee.  The test is given at St. Benedict and begins promptly at 8:30 a.m. and ends between 11:30 and 11:45 a.m.  Students will need to bring two #2 pencils.  No calculators are allowed for the testing. A reminder postcard will be mailed to all who have registered for the test.

It is recommended that students take the HSPT at St. Benedict.  Taking the test here at St. Benedict is considered an indication of a strong desire to want to come to SBA. However, we are glad to accept test results from other area schools.  Applicants who do not test at SBA will need to forward a copy of the test results to the Admissions Office.

Math and Science Placement tests

If a student entering Grade 9 wishes to be in Honors Physical Science, Honors Biology, Traditional Biology, Honors Algebra I, Honors Geometry, or Traditional Geometry, he/she must take a math or science placement test.  These tests are given at SBA in the spring for those already accepted to the school.
