3. In addition, PLUS program applicants must submit a copy of the most recent psychological evaluation (no more than three years) with application.

4. Incoming Freshmen must take a placement exam given the first two Saturdays in December.

All new sophomore and junior applicants wishing to apply for admission for the 2009 - 10 school year:

1. Must submit a completed application form, standardized test scores and a transcript from the school of current attendance along with a $50 non-refundable application fee.

2. After receipt of student transcripts, test results and most recent report card, a possible interview with a member of the Admissions Committee may be scheduled for sophomore and junior applicants.

St. Benedict enrolls sophomores and juniors on a space-available basis, after a review of academic and disciplinary records.

The Admissions Office will use the following to admit incoming students:

·      The highest priority for placement goes to siblings and children of staff members.

·      The remaining places will be given to applicants based on the following criteria (in no particular order): religion of the applicant, year’s applicant enrolled in Catholic education, alumni relationships, diversity of background and student records.

·      If candidates for admission are equal in the above area, we necessarily must consider date of application and whether or not the applicants have submitted all the paper work necessary to complete their application (i.e. copies of report cards, High School Placement Test scores, etc.)

A request for financial aid is available after a student is accepted through mid-March.  All aid is based on family financial need.

St. Benedict welcomes all candidates regardless of race, color or national origin.

PLUS Program Admissions Procedures

The PLUS program is designed specifically for high potential students whose primary diagnosis is a specific learning disability and/or ADHD.  The program does not admit students who struggle in school because of behavioral difficulties, severe attention problems, moderate to severe receptive and expressive language deficits or less than average intellectual abilities.

The procedures for admission are outlined below.  For additional information or clarification, please contact our Admissions Office.

Initial Inquiry:

Parents are encouraged to contact the PLUS Program and request information.  Initial questions regarding your student’s academic difficulties and the results of recent psychoeducational evaluation (within the past three years) will be asked.

Application:

Complete the application and return it with the required $50 application fee.  Please indicate PLUS on the application.  The following should be included with the application:  a current psychoeducational test, pertinent school records such as report cards, achievement testing and an IEP if available.

Placement Testing:

A one on one battery of tests will be administered to each prospective applicant after the admissions file is complete.  The testing is approximately three (3) hours.  There is a fee for this testing. (Please note that the High School Placement Test in December is also required.)

Informing Conference:

Parents will be contacted for an informing conference to review the results of the testing approximately one week after the testing appointment.  Parents are notified of their student’s admissions status at this time.

Waiting Pool:

The PLUS Program maintains a waiting pool for qualified applicants for whom no opening exists.  Students who have been accepted and placed in the waiting pool will be placed as openings occur in the program.
