For Students Entering Grade 9
Students who are applying for entrance into Grade 9 must take the High School Placement Test. It is recommended that students take the exam at St. Benedict at Auburndale High School. However, we do accept test results from other area schools. Please forward a copy of the test results to the Admissions Office.

Frequently Asked Questions:
-
Is there a minimum score required on the test?
No, however, we do consider it important in deciding if the school and the student are a good match. We also use it as a factor for placement in honors classes.
-
Do I have to take the test at St. Benedict in order to go to St. Benedict?
No, there are other testing sites. However, applicants who do not test here at SBA will need to send us the results of the test because we receive only those scores of the students who test at our site.
-
Do you give preference to students who take the test at SBA?
Taking the test here at St. Benedict is taken as an indication of a strong desire to want to come to SBA. It is only natural that we want people who want us, so preference is given to those students who test with us.
-
What happens if I miss the Placement Test?
Without HSPT results, we can evaluate an application by examining a student’s previous standardized test scores. However, we prefer to know the whole picture as it helps us make the best decision for enrollment and placement.
