Congratulations to the SBA track and field team on an exciting meet at Briarcrest. This was a tune-up meet before regions and several of our athletes were given an opportunity to try some new events.

The track team had an amazing weekend of track & field at the Charles Babcock Invitational in Clarksville, TN. Both the boys and girls captured third place out of thirteen teams. The girls missed second by only one point, (and beat 4th place by only one point). Special congratulations to Josh Stoddard who set a new school record in the high jump by clearing 6'2".

The Track & Field team had some success at the Collierville Dragon Relays with several first place finishes in a very competitive meet! The Girls took third place overall out of 17 teams and earned a team trophy. The top three finishers in each event earned medals and the top seven received ribbons.

The track & field team hosted their home meet with Briarcrest, Rossville Academy and Bishop Byrne. The girls placed first and the guys placed second overall. One of the most exciting moments of the meet occurred in the pole vault competition where sophomore Sarah Brannon tied the SBA record with her vault of 8’6”. Capturing first in their events were:
- Josh Stoddard for High Jump;
- Jake Arnold for Pole Vault;
- Jeremy Stewart in the 3,200;
- Nathan Sun in the 110 Hurdles; the 3,200 relay team;
- Colin Pitawanakwat in the 100 yd dash;
- Rickey Morning in 800 meters; 1,600 relay;
- DeErica Blakely for discus;
- Katelyn Graham for Long Jump & 300 Hurdles;
- Sarah Brannon for Pole Vault;
- Mayson Morrissett for 3,200 & 1,600; 400, 1,600 & 3,200 Relays;

The SBA track & field teams competed at the MUS Meet. The boys placed third out of five schools, the girls placed third out of six. Congratulations to the boys and girls 4x800 teams who finished first in their events.

The Track and Field team competed with approximately 15 other DI and DII schools in the Shelby County Track & Field Jamboree at Southwind. Josh Stoddard got things started with a school record-tying high jump at 6’ to place third overall. Madison Lessley and Mayson Morrisett placed 2nd and 3rd in the 3200m; Madison Smith took third in the 1600m after just finishing the 4 x 800! Both 4 x 800 teams placed first.
