October 27-29, 2010

The Lady Eagles varsity volleyball team advanced to the State Tournament in Murfreesboro and came away with the State Runner-up title. They opened with a tough Baylor team, defeating them in three games 25-23,25-23,25-22. The next day they beat Nashville Ensworth in four sets 25-23, 25-23, 20-25, 25-22. But, they met a very resilient Ensworth team for the final match and led the way in the first two games, but fell short in the next three to lose the match to Ensworth, 25-17,25-20, 24-26, 17-25, 9-15. The Lady Eagles finish the year with a 27-14 record.


October 23, 2010

The Lady Eagles varsity had a three-game victory over Harpeth Hall of Nashville (25-17, 25-23, 25-15) in the State Quarterfinals (substate). The Eagles led throughout most of the match and dominated the Honeybears in the victory. The Eagles, Division II-AA defending state champion, advance to the next round of the state tournament in Murfreesboro on Wednesday.


October 14, 2010

The Lady Eagles varsity lost a very close and hard fought make-up match at ECS in five sets 21-25, 25-11, 25-20, 14-25, 16-18. The Lady Eagles are now 24-13 for the regular season and move into sub-state action at home on Oct. 23 against Harpeth Hall.


October 8-9, 2010

The Varsity Volleyball Team traveled to Murfreesboro to get a taste of the State Tournament in the annual Mid-Tennessee Classic. The Lady Eagles took four out of the seven matches they played in some very tough competition. They now prepare for a sub-state match on Oct. 23. Record 24-12.


October 7, 2010

Varsity volleyball hosted Munford on senior night and handedly took care of business in three games, 25-14, 25-18, 25-15. The Lady Eagles are now 20-9 for the year with a tournament in Murfreesboro this weekend.


October 6, 2010

The Freshman volleyball team ended their season on a winning note with victories over Bolton SBA beat Bolton 25-13, 25-8. They won another tournament over the weekend at Collierville (the Collierville Bash) and end the season with an outstanding record of 18-1. The JV also closed out their season with a bang, defeating Bolton 25-9, 25-13 and improving their 2010 record to 29-2! Outstanding seasons for both teams.


September 28, 2010

The SBA Freshmen took two from St. Agnes at home with 25-9, 25-10 wins. The freshman record stands at 10-1. The JV  (in three sets) and Varsity (in five sets) had tough battles and came up just short of wins in region match-ups. The JV’s record stands at an outstanding 27-2 and the varsity has a record that remains on the winning side at 18-9. The freshmen participate in the Collierville Tournament on Saturday and the JV and varsity travel to ECS on Monday.

The SBA Freshmen Volleyball team swept their own tournament with outstanding matches - SBA vs Houston 25-12, 26-24; SBA vs Bartlett 25-6, 25-16; SBA vs Harding 25-8, 25-8; Championship Game vs Collierville SBA wins 25-14 20-25 15-11. Their record now stands at an outstanding 9-1.


September 24-25, 2010

Varsity volleyball played in one the toughest tournaments in the country this weekend at Hoover, AL. and came away with a 3-2 finish. Their record now stands at 18-8 for the season with the toughest region test coming up on Tuesday at home with St. Agnes.


September 22, 2010

The freshmen and JV volleyball teams traveled to Bolton and upped their winning records by defeating the Lady Wildcats - FR 25-6, 26-9, with outstanding players for the night being - Jamie Patterson, Hallie Dunham, Meredith Lerma, Emily Curran and Sarah Timmins. The JV won SBA 25-25, Bolton 3-4, with their record now at 27-1 and the freshman record at 5-1.

The JV and varsity volleyball teams smoked Briarcrest with the JV winning SBA  25-25, Briarcrest 7-20 upping their record to 26-1 and the varsity also winning their second match for the season over Briarcrest 25-25-25, Briarcrest 19-16-11, making their record 15-6 and 3-1 in the region.


September 18-19, 2010

The Lady Eagles JV Volleyball team won the Wolf River Classic tournament for the second year in a row!!  They had a fabulous ‘come from behind’ win in the first set of the championship match against Houston 25-21 -- that momentum took them into the second set, winning 25-12! The JV Team record is 25-1 for the season. Scores for the tournament - Pool Play SBA 25-25, Germantown 7-7; SBA 25-25,     Hutchison 9 -9; SBA 24- 25, Ridgeway 26-19; SBA 25-25, Harding 15-10;Semi- Finals SBA 25-25, Collierville 14-13; Finals SBA 25-25, Houston 21-12. The JV and varsity both host Briarcrest on Tuesday, Sept. 21 in region match-ups.


September 16, 2010

SBA Volleyball, again, had a sweep of their opponents in region action with Hutchison at home. FR 25-25, Hutchison 6-13. The freshman record is 5-1. The JV followed with a two-set victory – SBA 25-25, Hutchison 10-9 advancing their record to 19-1 and the Varsity won 25-25-25, Hutchison 22-20-19. The Eagles were led by Hannah Kurtz with 16 kills and Kirsten Rousseau with 7 kills. The Eagles have an overall record of 14-6 and 2-1 in the region.


September 14, 2010

SBA Volleyball had another successful night on the court with Freshmen, JV and Varsity all winning their matches. FR 25-25, Arlington 11-18 with a record of 4-1; JV 25-25, Arlington 4-10 with SBA record 18-1; Varsity 25-25-25, Arlington 18-18-19 with record of 13-6. The Eagles were led by Hannah Kurtz with 10 kills and Kristina Headrick with 12 digs. All teams take on region rival Hutchison on Thursday at home at 4:00, 5:00 and 6:00.


September 10-11, 2010

The SBA Varsity Volleyball team were 5-3 at the tough Brentwood tourney this weekend.  Scores for the Varsity are: Independence 25-25, SBA 18-14; SBA 25-25, Columbia Central 20-10; SBA 25-25, Oakland 10-18; Seigel 28-25, SBA 26-18; SBA 25-25, Westland 20-21; SBA 25-19-15, Blackmon 22-25-12; SBA 25-25, Spain Park 20-19; Oak Mt. 25-26-15, SBA 17-28-9. The Lady Eagles are now 12-6 on the season and will host Arlington Tuesday, Sept. 14 and a region match with Hutchison Thurs., Sept. 16. The JV team placed second in the JV Brentwood Invitational.  They went undefeated in pool play against some tough D1 and D2 schools and were 6-1 for the weekend. Scores for the JV are: Pool Play-SBA 25-25, Hume Fogg 18-20; SBA 25-25, John Paul II 18-12; SBA 25-25, Houston 21-21; SBA 25-25, Brentwood 15-16. Quarter Finals-SBA 25-25, Lipscomb 15-9. Semi Finals-SB  25-25, Ravenwood 19- 12. Finals-SBA 16- 21, Brentwood 25-25. The JV are now 17-1 for the season.


September 10, 2010

SAA 25-28-22-28, SBA 12-26-25-26. The Lady Eagles varsity came up just short of a victory at St. Agnes in region action. They are now 7-2 for the season. The JV (SBA 27-25, SAA 25-16) and Freshmen beat their opponents in matches preceding the varsity. Both the JV and Varsity travel to Brentwood this weekend for a tournament.

Defending State Champion Lady Eagles volleyball team is ranked first in today’s Commercial Appeal’s Preps Volleyball Top 5.

The Lady Eagles JV defeated Briarcrest  25-11, 25-21 and boast a record of  10-0. The Varsity also had success over region rival Briarcrest 25-21,25-14,24-26,25-16 and have a 7-2 (1-0 in the region) for the season.


August 31, 2010

SBA 29-25-25, St. George’s 27-20-22. The SBA Eagles Varsity Volleyball team defeated St. George’s, one of the top ranked teams in the area, in three straight games. Leading the Lady Eagles were Hannah Kurtz with 16 kills, Brittany Gaston with 22 digs and Rachel Schuman with 22 assists. The Lady Eagles are now 6-2 and travel to region rival Briarcrest on Thursday. Congratulations are in order, too, to the JV volleyball team on their win last night over St. George’s 25-10, 25-20. This win improves their record to 9-0. And, the Lady Eagles freshman also swept St. Mary’s. Scores were SBA  25-25. St.Mary’s 10-22.

The JV volleyball team defended their championship title from last year and won the Briarcrest “Beat the Heat” tournament this weekend -- won 6 straight, not dropping a set.

  • SBA vs Harding 25- 15; 25-10

August 27-28, 2010

The Lady Eagles Varsity volleyball team advanced to the quarterfinals of the Collierville Kickoff Classic. The Eagles and wins over SBEC and Munford on Friday then advancing to the quarterfinals with host Collierville, who won in two sets and went on to play in the championship match. The Lady Eagles are still without the injured Hannah Kurtz on the front line.

Lady Eagles volleyball has been ranked third in the Commercial Appeal Best of the Preps Top 5 Volleyball Teams.


August 24, 2010

SBA 25-22-22-25-17, Houston 18-25-25-22-15. The SBA Freshmen, JV and Varsity volleyball teams swept Houston with the varsity team getting a big win in a total team effort, as the Lady Eagles played without senior leader Hannah Kurtz due to an injury. The Eagles were led by Kirsten Rousseau with 10 kills, Rachel Schuman with 29 assists and Kristina Headrick with 20 digs.


August 23, 2010

SBA 25-10-27-25-9, Collierville 22-25-29-22-15. The Lady Eagles lost a hard-fought, didn’t-give-up match with a tough Collierville team to open the season. SBA has been picked by the Commercial Appeal to be the top team D2-AA West for this season. The Lady Eagles JV won their match over Collierville.
