Saints Jacinta and Francisco Marto
Between May 13 and October 13, 1917, three Portuguese shepherd children from Aljustrel experienced apparitions of Our Lady at Cova da Iria, near Fátima, during a time of war and political turmoil in Portugal. In the first apparition, Mary instructed the children to return on the 13th of each month and to pray the rosary for world peace and the conversion of Russia. The final apparition attracted up to 90,000 people on October 13. Less than two years later, Francisco died of influenza, with his remains later moved to the Fátima basilica. Jacinta also died of influenza in 1920, while cousin Lúcia became a Carmelite nun. Pope Francis canonized Jacinta and Francisco on May 13, 2017, at the shrine, which draws 20 million visitors annually.

Congratulations to Adam O'Brien and Sophia Gannon on their incredible achievements in signing to play their respective sports at the collegiate level. Adam, who will be continuing his football career at Cumberland University, has been a standout leader, earning team captain honors as both a junior and senior. Sophia will be taking her talents to Buffalo, New York, where she will play ice hockey.
