Every martyr realizes how to avoid execution, but refuses to pay the high price of doing so. A clear conscience was more valuable than a long life. We may be tempted to compromise our faith while telling ourselves that we are simply being realistic, dealing with situations as we find them. Is survival really the ultimate value? Do our concrete, daily choices reflect our deepest values, the ones that allow us to “tick” the way we do? Anyone can imagine situations in which being a follower of Jesus is easier than the present situation. Saints remind us that our daily choices, especially in adverse circumstances, form the pattern of our lives.

THIS WEEK - Final Exams
Good luck to all of our students on their finals next week!
The Library will close at 11:20 AM during exam week. Please make sure you have a ride home from school by 11:20 AM each day. The bus will leave SBA at 11:30 AM, arrive at St. Paul at 12:00 PM, and arrive at Sacred Heart 12:30 PM, traffic permitting.
Each class period is 90 minutes, and students are required to stay in the classroom for the entire 90 minutes. Students should bring something to study or read after they finish their test. Any students who need additional time may stay an extra 10 minutes, or see their counselor to work out additional time.
Students should be in regular uniform for Exams. Students do not need to come to school during their lunch period. If you need to, you should report to the Dining Hall.
Make up exams are with the pre-approval of teacher AND Mr. Villacura. Parent/guardian must email or phone teacher AND Mr. Villacura for any absences on exam days.
THURSDAY @ 9:20 AM - Send Off for Peru Missionaries
This Sunday, a large group of students, parents, and staff from St. Benedict will travel to Piura, Peru for a week of mission work. Please join us in the Dining Hall between exams on Thursday at 9:20 AM for a special prayer and send off for these missionaries!

Please note that the Summer Reading assignment for students taking AP Literature is different than the assignment for AP Language, AP Seminar, and Dual Enrollment. Please check the link below for updated assignments.
The ONLY classes who have Summer Reading & Writing assignments are AP Literature, AP Language, AP Seminar, and Dual Enrollment.
JUNE 13 - Have a ball with our Seminarians!
Calling all high school boys, from rising 9th to graduating Seniors! Our Diocese invites you to spend time with our incredible 13 Seminarians for a morning of fun, food, and more. Activities include soccer, kickball, dodgeball, corn hole and more!
This Diocesan event will take place on Saturday, June 13, from 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM, at St. Ann Catholic Church, and the Knights of Columbus West Tennessee will be providing hamburgers, hot dogs, chips, assorted snacks, and drinks.
The event is being held as a way to show support for our Seminarians and give these high school students the opportunity to hang out with the Seminarians and learn more about them.

Laptop Return
Laptop Returns at the end of this week
How Laptop Return Will Work:
On the final exam day (Thursday, May 21), your first-period teacher will have a laptop return form available in their classroom. Once your exam is complete, please fill out the form and leave your laptop and charger with your teacher. Please make sure your laptop is returned with its charger, fully shut down, and free of any personal stickers or accessories you'd like to keep.
Personal Data & Files:
Before returning your device, please make sure to back up or remove any personal files or data you wish to keep. Your school Microsoft account, including your email and OneDrive, will remain accessible through August. Returning students should still have access to their files when we migrate to Google Drive; however, depending on where files were saved on the computer and whether OneDrive was properly syncing, we cannot guarantee that all data stored on the device will carry over to next year. Please take time now to ensure anything important is saved to OneDrive or an external location before you return the laptop on Thursday.
Summer Laptop Use:
If your student needs a laptop for summer classes and does not have access to a personal computer, a school-issued device will be made available upon request. Please contact the IT Department to let us know. Please be aware that any laptop retained for summer use must be returned before the first day of school next year. Failure to return the device before that date will affect the student's eligibility to receive a school-issued laptop for the upcoming school year and may result in additional costs or fees.
Laptop Purchase Option:
If you are interested in purchasing your school-issued laptop rather than returning it, that option is available! Please use this link to complete your purchase: https://sbaeagles.wufoo.com/forms/p3szx5g0rmoils/ or let us know of your intent to purchase by the end of the day on Wednesday. Students who have purchased their laptop must still complete the return form and indicate that a purchase has been made. This allows us to verify with the Finance and Business Office that the purchase obligation has been fulfilled.
Please be aware that students who do not complete this process will not be issued a school computer next year and may be subject to additional costs or fees. If you have any questions about the return or purchase process, please contact Mr. Freel at freelp@sbaeagles.org

During Exam Week (May 18-21), the Cafeteria will be open as usual for breakfast and will also have snacks available.
